After spending some time in the water, both Sofia and Bieber embraced in an intimate hug as they wrapped their towels around one another and shared a kiss. At the VMAs, Bieber had been nominated for Video Of The Year alongside, Adele, Drake and Kanye West. However he lost to Adele's Hello. He was also nominated in the category for Best Pop Video alongside, Adele, Alessia Cara and Ariana Grande but it was Beyoncé's Formation that won. He was also in the category for Breakthrough Long Form Video but lost out to Beyoncé again for Lemonade. Bieber didn't feel like he was missing out too much as he has admitted in the past that he doesn't particularly enjoy awards shows: 'There's an authenticity missing that I crave.' He revealed on Instagram a few months ago: 'No disrespect to anybody at any of the shows or the people running it. Nothing but love for you guys and your support. But I don’t feel good when I’m there nor after. I try to think of it as a celebration but can’t help feeling like people are rating and grading my performance.' However, as his peers lit up the stage at the VMA Awards on Sunday, Bieber sang karaoke alone in a strip mall bar more than 3,000 miles away in Los Angeles.
The 22-year-old pop star shocked drinkers at the Residuals Bar on Sunday night by knocking back whiskey and giving a surprise performance of rock and roll classic Great Balls of Fire. Bieber belted out the Jerry Lee Lewis favorite and seemed to especially enjoy himself with the chorus. A fellow patron revealed: 'He came in to the bar around 10pm with a security guard who gave him plenty of space and waited by the door. 'Justin knows the owner really well so came in and drank for free, he was knocking back Jack Daniels neat and seemed really relaxed. 'After a few drinks he seemed to be in a really good mood and a few people were doing karaoke. The host said, "Justin's going to sing for us tonight"'. Source : WMA
